Molly's Cali O'Callahan and
her very first whelping!
This Is Molly's Cali O'Callahan and her very first
whelping!  Actually this was my very first Yorkie
whelping!  My first 2 litters were delivered by
C-Section.  I had helped whelp my rescue Siberian
Huskies litter when I lived in Michigan.  That was
a little bit different than a Yorkie whelping!
Cali came to work with me in my salon for a week before her
due date.  We had just gotten to work when she decided to
start building her nest!  I watched her while I did a few
clients and decided to take her temperature.  It was falling
and her appetite was gone.  That's when I knew for sure
that this was it!  This girl loves to eat!

We headed for home and got everything ready.  She had a
restless night and decided that she wasn't going to whelp
until the next day.  My day off!  She had her first pup at
noon.  Mercedes came out first.
At 1:30 the second pup was whelped... also breech.
Cali's motherly instinct kicked in and she is doing a
wonderful job!  I was really wondering if she would because
she wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with Misty's
litters.  Instinct is a truly amazing thing!
Wake up little darling!  Welcome to this cold world!
Three pups whelped and one more to come.  Getting that
first mothers milk loaded with colostrum.
It's 4:00 and all is well.  The whelping was a great success
and mom and pups are taking a much deserved nap!  We're
all ID'd, documented and taking a snooze.  
I'm so proud of my little Cali!  She is as sweet as they come
and I can't wait to help her raise her first litter!!!
